Animal Crossing and Pokemon are huge interests of mine, and I decided to combine the two. The character was sketched out on my ipad via IBIS paint, and then thrown into Photoshop to properly section everything into layers. Everything was animated within Adobe After Effects. Turned into a puppet, so that the character could properly move and be animated in the way I wanted. The music note effects were also done here as well. This was a very fun project to work on, and I learned a lot about puppeting through this.
DEMON BEE: 2D RIGGED
Adobe Character Animator: 2D rigged avatar
Complete Date: October 2020
Character Model made by: me
Drawn in: Procreate and Adobe Photoshop
Made with: Adobe Character Animator
The character is one of my owen characters. I sketched him out in Procreate, and used Photoshop to both color and properly section off and group the layers for 2D rigging. Adobe Character Animator was used to rig the character, allowing it to move along with my movements, via my webcam. An absolutely amazing project to work on, since I have a huge love and passion for cartoons.
His eyes blink when I blink.
His head moves when I move my head.
His ears sway along with each movement.
His arms move by clicking and dragging at the wrists.
When I speak, his mouth moves.
Triggers, when this key is pressed, he:
wings flap
left wink
right wink
eyebrows raise
Mouth opens in an "O" shape
RAINY DAYS AND FROGGY WEATHER

Bear character models made and rigged by: me
Made with: Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Character Animator, Adobe After Effects
Sky background made by: me
Clouds made by: me
Frogs made by: me
Sound effects from: https://freesound.org/
The process of creating this character was very similar to my demon bee project. I used Procreate to sketch out the character, and photoshop to color, section off, and properly group everything into layers and groups. Adobe Character animator was used to both rig, and animate the movement of the bear. After, I threw everything into Adobe After Effects, and animated my frogs (these were created within procreate by myself). Sound effects and visual effects (such as lightning) were added at the end, after I properly sequenced everything and animated my frogs. Such a fun project to take part in, and a fun and silly story to tell.
The Bear Model is capable of:
Blinking when I blink.
His head moves when I move my head.
His ears sway along with each movement.
His arms move by clicking and dragging at the wrists.
When I speak, his mouth moves.
His tear drops sway along with each movement.
Triggers, when this key is pressed, he:
his mouth changes to a squiggly shape.
This was a very interesting a fun project to do. Using Character Animator to animate the Bear model, and then putting it into After effects. The clouds, thunder, and falling frogs were all animated in After effects. The frogs were images created, and turned into gifs.
PANCAKIE LOGO
Procreate and Adobe After Effects
Complete Date: December 2020.
Made with: Procreate and Adobe After Effects
Pancake made by: me
Butter creature made by: me
Sound effects and music from: https://freesound.org/
This is a small logo project, showcasing the animation abilities in After Effects. The animated logo is for a fake gaming company, which is pancake themed. Monsters are popular in games, so I decided to make a butter monster. The butter monster melts on the pancake, just as butter would.
The eyes roll off, landing besides the bottom of the pancake, like small berries.
This was modeled after the type of animated logos that appear at the beginning of videos, such as ones on youtube, or at the beginning of movies/games. This was a very fun project, and it allowed me to explore a lot of methods that I would originally not thing of.
Procreate was used to draw and color the character, and Adobe After Effects was used to animate the monster melting into butter, and the eyes rolling down the pancakes. The words and the ding were animated at the very end.
